In our work together you will come to clarify your personal goals and strengths, add tools to your mental/emotional toolbox so you can achieve transformational change and your dreams in an efficient and supportive manner. I am passionate about finding exceptions to the rule and helping people move forward in life despite challenging circumstances. As a counselor, you will find me responsive, warm, engaging, and thoughtful. 

I am trained in a variety of trauma informed approaches including the use body-based interventions. A multi-modal approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Jungian, culturally appropriate modalities, and I describe myself as a holistic therapist allow aligning with people’s recovery approach.  I have a life coaching certification and trained utilizing Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the True Colors systems. I incorporate all these tools along with background in Multicultural Leadership Issues in Behavioral Health to create a culturally responsive, pleasant, and thorough therapy experience for my clients. 

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor- Supervisor and a Doctor of Organizational Leadership originally from Houston, Texas.  I have also practiced in San Antonio, Texas for a good portion of my career.  I earned my B.A. in French from the University of Houston then my M.A. in Community Counseling with the University of Texas at San Antonio. Eventually, I decided to earn my Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word. My love of understanding and helping others from cultural and personal perspectives led to me follow my interests in my education and to also study and live abroad. I am a woman of Creole descent (African American, French /European, Native American and Hispanic/ Latina) and am sensitive to and respectful of issues of culture, spirituality, and ethnicity in my clients’ lives.   

I have been both a career clinician and organizational leader (ranging from manager to chief officer) in behavioral health outpatient settings for over 12 years.  I have worked with clients as young as age 3 through senior age in public, non-profit, private, shelter, domestic violence, and pre-K through higher education/ medical school settings.  I have been a professor of psychology and student development and a consultant providing training and consultation to behavioral health and educational organizations on multicultural issues and other topics. In addition, I have trained numerous counselors for licensure and am a published author in the self-help genre.
